The National Women's History Project is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the theme, "Writing Women Back Into History". WRC invites students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 to submit poetry and essays about a woman from the Catawba Valley that has been a positive influence in their community through service and leadership. Guidelines for the contest and entry forms are available by calling the center at 828-322-6333.
All entries must be typed or legibly handwritten and received at the center on or before February 26th, 2010 to be eligible. Winners will be recognized during the center's annual Spring gala, "Movers, Shakers, History Makers" on Thursday, March 18th at the Park Inn Gateway Conference Center.
